It is time for the Boo Knits Halloween MKAL again!

Pattern available here, on Ravelry, where you will be able to download a Pre-Release Information Sheet to give you details about the Mystery Knit Along. Clues will be released as detailed below.

CLUE ONE –  1 October
CLUE TWO –  6 October
CLUE THREE –  9 October
CLUE FOUR –  13 October
CLUE FIVE –  16 October

There is no race – work at your own speed and enjoy every stitch.  There will be five clues, each new clue will be added to the previous clue(s) so you have a complete and up to date pattern to replace your previous issue. You might like to check the update as you may not need to print out the entire pattern on each release.

Apparition has been designed to be knit in a solid or almost solid coloured skein of DyeforYarn Tussah Silk Lace, Lichtfaden Chocho, Solstice Yarns Banshee and Green Tea Yarns Ujicha.  The tussah silk lace is the perfect yarn for this pattern giving Apparition substance and yet fragility, shape and delicate texture.   The 800 beads dance in your stitches adding weight and drape but not overpowering the delicate and ethereal feel of the shawl.  Get your needles and yarn at the ready and let your own Apparition appear before your eyes!

IMPORTANT:  As this is a Mystery Knit Along, we ask that you keep a placeholder as your first photograph on your project page until the final clue has been released.  This will keep the mystery alive for those who prefer it so.  There will be threads in the Boo Group for you to show your progress photographs and chat and, of course, there will be a ‘spoiler-free’ thread too.

Yarn: DyeforYarn Tussah Silk Lace, Solstice Yarns Banshee, Lichtfaden Chocho and Green Tea Yarns Ujicha – all 700m/100g.  Suggested alternative yarns are: - SweetGeorgia Merino Silk Lace and Greta and the Fibres Silk Me – both 700m/100g.  Yarns containing Alpaca and/or Cashmere are not recommended for this design.  Finished Size:  70” (178 cm) wide and 18” (45 cm) deep after thuggish blocking and worked as written and 79.5” (199 cm) wide and 20.75” (53.5 cm) deep after thuggish blocking and worked with three repeats of Chart Two.  Yardage is very close on three repeats of Chart Two.  Needles: 3.25mm (US3), 3.5mm (US4), 3.75mm (US5) and 4mm (US6) needles though it is better to use a needle that produces a fabric you are happy with.  You will also need: Stitch Markers (just under 60), Needle, Blocking Pins, 1mm cro-tat hook (or 0.75 crochet hook for applying beads) and just under 800 beads when working two repeats of Chart Two and 900 beads when working three repeats.  I would recommend Miyuki size 5 triangles or Miyuki, Matubo or Toho size 6 seed beads.   Gauge:  DyeforYarn Tussah Silk Lace and Lichtfaden Chocho Lace 19 sts to 4” after blocking on main body pattern.  Gauge is not critical though with a tighter tension your shawl will be smaller.

The pattern is both written and fully charted with bead placement indicated throughout.

It will be useful to print this pattern on a colour printer though bead placement could be marked with coloured pencils if necessary.
